Acupuncturist charged with third count of sex assault

By: Jesse McLean

A Toronto acupuncturist faces a third charge of sexual assault after another victim has come forward, alleging she was groped during a therapy session.

Bruce Hocking, 47, was arrested and charged in late April after a woman said she was sexually assaulted while attending Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation on Lake Shore Blvd. W. near Browns Line, police said.

He was charged again on May 5 when another victim came forward, this incident allegedly happening at an Electro Therapeutic centre at 44 Royal York Rd.

He was charged again today with count of sexual assault in connection with a third patient.

All three alleged incidents occurred within the last year, said Const. Tony Vella.

"It's obviously concerning that more victims are coming forward," said Vella. "We're urging any other victims to come forward. If there are more victims, there will be more charges. That's the bottom line."

Anyone with information about the investigation, including potential victims, can call Det. Patrick McGrade at 416-808-2254 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.

Hocking is the founder of the International Association of Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation Therapists. On his website, it says he has been practicing acupuncture since the early 1990s and has authored several guidebooks.
